New Year’s resolutions for your business

The end of the year or the beginning of a new one is the perfect time to re-evaluate your business’s progress over the past year and decide how you want it to grow. We did some research on how you can get your company moving in the right direction and these new year’s resolutions are designed to help you do just that!  


If you found that you were extremely tired and frazzled this last year you have to remind yourself this year that you don’t have to do it all. Research has shown that overworking can lead to an increase in mistakes. It is easy to become overwhelmed by the multitude and variation of tasks that have to be completed in a day. This year remember to delegate. Divide up the tasks you have into categories – those that do not need your specific attention, pass off to an employee who has some time. Hiring an intern is another great way to help take away some of your work load.


Promote your business

Marketing and business promotion have to be at the top of your list in 2019. Getting leads, attracting new customers and keeping existing clients happy means you have to make advertising a priority. If you do not have a top-notch creative marketing team already, you need to build one that can develop a content plan for your business.


Business Planning weekly

Planning is absolutely essential if you want your business to grow steadily. Planning allows you to take note of what worked in 2018 and what didn’t and then based on these evolutions and considerations you can set new goals focusing on what worked last year. It may be a good idea to have monthly meetings to evaluate what succeeds and what fails throughout the year. This should keep your business on track and in a position to determine new directions as and once you achieve your goals.


Trial, error and learn

Online courses, Ebooks and training days are all excellent ways to keep learning and developing your business. Whether it is adding to your talent set or bettering your people skills, this will in turn assist your employees in helping the business grow to be bigger and better! It may be wise to have consultants come in and train your employees at least once in the year – this can help set the tone for learning and trying new things that will inevitably assist your company in its future endeavors. This also allows you to meet new people and diversify your personal network which is a excellent way to get introduced to new clients.


Join a networking group

Following on from our last point – you have to network, it is such a vital part of running a business. Chatting to different people about their own businesses separate to your own may spark new ideas and lead to new prospects and leads. Whether you realize it or not, sometimes in business it is about who you know not what you know! The more people you are connected to the better chance your business has. In 2019, try make a consistent effort to meet new people. Having a cocktail evening for work and inviting your business colleagues is an wonderful way to stay in touch with your those you meet while networking.
